Il Convento Limoncello 1000ML

A$110.00

An exquisite bitter-sweet liquore from the lemons of Sorrento.

The history of lemon cultivation in Sorrento extends back so far that IGP Sorrento lemons have been identified as a unique biotype specific to the region. These lemons are ideal for making limoncello, a practice traditionally carried out by the religious orders in the area.

The Pollio family has cultivated the oval variety of lemon, a succulent citrus of great value, since 1935.

South of the gulf of Naples, the Sorrentino peninsula is a little corner of heaven, with stunning landscapes, a mountainous coastline, deep valleys and citrus groves. The famous Sorrentino lemons come from this area. Botanically speaking, they belong to the citrus limonia variety (sometimes called Chinese citrus). These lemons are rather big with an intense flavour and unique organoleptic characteristics.

Located at 220m above sea level, il Convento (a former convent) is run by the Pollio family, who continue the tradition of making limoncello as passed down by the nuns who once lived there. They use the same historical methods of production, and as a result their limoncello benefits from concentrated and natural flavours delivered solely from estate grown fruit, organically farmed.
