Cantina Marilina Sketta Grecanico is a white wine from the I.G.T. Terre Siciliane, made with Grecanico. This white grape, the sixth most planted in the country, is native, located mainly in the north. However, this variety also ripens perfectly in the area’s white limestone soils, which bring refinement, elegance and longevity to these wines.

The grapes, grown on trellises in the Contrada San Lorenzo vineyard, are harvested by hand in September and brought to the winery in 10 kg crates. The vinification of Cantina Marilina Sketta Grecanico is carried out in concrete tanks, with long macerations and minimal intervention. Before being released, Cantina Marilina Sketta Grecanico spends 6 months aging in stainless steel tanks and 3 months in the bottle. Without filtration or clarification, Cantina Marilina Sketta Grecanico is bottled in recycled glass bottles with natural cork stoppers.

A lovely introduction to the world of “skin contact wine”, textural richness and savoury notes of spice.

“The term Sketta means, in Sicilian dialect, young lady, unmarried, today better known as single. Sketta is a woman who She loves, therefore romantic, but at the same time a woman who chooses, who decides, sweet, but determined. Sketta is never alone, she accompanies, entertains, satisfies, but in the end she remains free. Sketta represents a company which takes up the tradition in which the woman was at the center of the matriarchal family, but also represents a society where women want to remain free, Sketta”

Cantina Marilina is an organic winery located between the beautiful areas of Noto, the wildlife oasis of Vendicari, Marzamemi, Portopalo di Capo Passero and the Isola delle Correnti, places, these, jewels of the south-east of Sicily.

Founded in 2001 by Angelo Paternò, it is now run by his daughter Marilina Paternò who philosophy is based on an absolute respect for the raw material and land. Mediterranean climate with a fortunate geographical location and calcareous soils are factors that enhance the quality of the grapes, along with a philosophy oriented reinterpretation of the traditional production methods: autochthonous varieties, concrete tanks, spontaneous fermentation, maceration, grape's sun drying.

All wines are produced according to conscience, knowledge, and science: research, territoriality, respect for the environment and raw materials are factors that determine a strong identity and ensure that each bottle is unique in its gender.
