Cantina Marilina "Currivu" Rosso Terre Siciliane IGP 2021

A$45.00

The Marilina Currivu Rosso is made from a blend of Nero d’Avola and Merlot made from grapes hand-harvested from vineyards in the San Lorenzo District of south eastern Sicily. Juicy and fruit forward, the wine was vinified and aged in concrete tanks for 8 months. On the nose, it has a strong fragrance of dark cherries and plum jam, as well as hints of spices and herbs. On the palate, it is juicy, big and bold; with strong tannins and a lingering finish.

Their philosophy is simple: absolute respect for the earth. The climate in Sicily works to their advantage in making wine with as little intervention as possible. Their modern approach is combined with traditional winemaking techniques such as concrete tanks, drying grapes out in the sun and extended skin maceration for the white wines.

“Currivu indicates, in Italian, the stubborn man convinced of his own Ideas. Stubbornness and conviction to do things right without adding and without taking away.”

Cantina Marilina is an organic winery located between the beautiful areas of Noto, the wildlife oasis of Vendicari, Marzamemi, Portopalo di Capo Passero and the Isola delle Correnti, places, these, jewels of the south-east of Sicily.

Founded in 2001 by Angelo Paternò, it is now run by his daughter Marilina Paternò who philosophy is based on an absolute respect for the raw material and land. Mediterranean climate with a fortunate geographical location and calcareous soils are factors that enhance the quality of the grapes, along with a philosophy oriented reinterpretation of the traditional production methods: autochthonous varieties, concrete tanks, spontaneous fermentation, maceration, grape's sun drying.

All wines are produced according to conscience, knowledge, and science: research, territoriality, respect for the environment and raw materials are factors that determine a strong identity and ensure that each bottle is unique in its gender.
